The Project Manager submitted a status report on the construction and cost monitoring of the Matinkylä–Kivenlahti section to the Board through the war room’s monitoring view. Construction is progressing in line with the project plan’s risk-assessed schedule and budget.

Länsimetro Oy’s Technical Director presented the situation for the Matinkylä–Kivenlahti section’s commissioning plan. The commissioning plan is proceeding on schedule.

The Board of Directors authorised the CEO to sign an agreement on tasks related to the preparations for the commissioning of the Matinkylä–Kivenlahti section and the actual commissioning phase with HKL. The tasks are linked to control room services and test runs, among other things.

The Board of Directors approved Länsimetro Oy’s budget proposal for 2021.

Länsimetro Oy’s CFO presented the cost monitoring for the Matinkylä-Kivenlahti section. Construction is progressing in line with the project plan’s budget. The CFO also presented the schedule for the financial statements 2020.

The CEO presented Länsimetro Oy’s recruitments.

The Board of Directors decided to procure the management of the Sammalvuori depot commissioning follow-up work and maintenance tasks for the Matinkylä–Kivenlahti project from Sweco PM Oy based on the framework agreement (27 October 2017).

The Director of Communications presented the DESIGN.TUNNE.METRO. video series produced on the Ruoholahti–Matinkylä section of the West Metro. The goal of the series is to spotlight the design and details behind the stations’ architecture.

Rock will be removed by means of wedging at the Soukka metro station’s Soukantori entrance starting on 4 January 2021. The work will last for two weeks. The wedging will take place in the area of the map marked in blue, at the address Soukantie 14. Drilling is part of the wedging work, and it will cause minor noise in the immediate environment. The drilling will be carried out during the work hours specified by the Espoo City Environment Agency, i.e. on weekdays between 7.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. No wedging will be carried out on Epiphany (6 January 2021).

Rock is being removed from the Soukantori entrance to ensure access to the bicycle parking area.

Rail ballast will be loaded at the worksite base of the West Metro rail line on Hyljetie during the work hours specified by the Espoo City Environment Agency, i.e. on weekdays between 7.00 a.m. and 9.00 p.m. The loading area is marked in red on the map below. The loading of ballast will continue until the end of March 2021.

The rail ballast loading is related to the metro rail line’s superstructures contract, which started in June 2020. The contract covers the laying of ballast, as well as the installation of cable ducts, sleepers, rails and the conductor rail.

The construction of a pipeline to the Riilahti shaft of the West Metro began in August 2020 with the removal of trees. At the end of the week of 16 November (week 47), exceptional traffic arrangements will begin on Sammentie, on the blue area marked on the map, due to the construction of the pipeline’s stormwater connections. Traffic will go back to normal and the area of Sammentie in question will be covered with asphalt by the end of December.

The construction of a pipeline to the Riilahti shaft of the West Metro began in August 2020 with the removal of trees. Construction of the pipeline is moving forward in the last week of October with excavations from the shaft towards Sammentie. The excavation work, marked with red lines on the map, will continue until February 2021. The pipeline will consist of two pressure sewers, which will connect to the manhole at Sammentie.

Länsimetro Oy’s Director of Real Estate and Infrastructure presented to the Board of Directors West Metro’s ownership Q3 report and HKL’s performance reporting. HKL reports to Länsimetro Oy on the use of the Ruoholahti–Matinkylä section rail line and stations and related service and maintenance tasks. A report on the use and property risks linked to Länsimetro Oy’s metro property management was presented to the Board.

The operations related to the section under construction as well the section owned by Länsimetro Oy that is already in operation are openly communicated to all stakeholders and parties. Länsimetro’s public image is positive. Reporters are increasingly interested in how the construction is advancing.
